Forest Fires Close Hwy 17 North near Marathon and Hwy 11 near Hearst

7:35pm UPDATE: Power is out in White River and we are attempting to verify whether it may be planned due to fire, or caused by the fire.

Kapuskasing OPP Detachment has also just issued a statement advising that Highway 11 between Hearst and Long Lac is now closed “to address a public safety concern created by forest fires along the highway.”


 

A forest fire is currently threatening travel on Highway 17 north near Marathon as well as area mining operations.

White River OPP detachment reports that Highway 17 at White River has been closed to “address a public safety concern created by forest fires along the Highway.”

There currently no detours in place.
