United Way District Grant Program Deadline extended to January 21st

United Way Sault Ste. Marie and District serves Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding communities in the region from White River to Elliot Lake. Donations received from individuals and workplace campaigns within the District of Algoma are
separated from Sault Ste. Marie donations and are reserved for the District Grants Program.
Eligibility Criteria
Criteria In order to be eligible for a district grant, an organization must meet the following criteria;
  • be a registered charity with an office in a community in the district that surrounds Sault Ste. Marie between White River, Ontario and Elliot Lake, Ontario
  • be governed by an active volunteer Board
  • show a need for financial assistance
  • provide services which address one or more of the three focus areas – All that Kids Can Be… From Poverty to Possibility… Strong Communities
Application forms and budget templates are available on the United Way of Sault Ste. Marie and district website (www.ssmunitedway.ca).
The application deadline has been extended to January 21, 2016. Final decisions will be made by March 25, 2016 and funding will be received by successful applicants in April 2016.
2015 Grant Recipients:
CHADWIC Home Inc. (Wawa) –  Lunch & Learn Program 
This program is offered in Hawk Junction, Dubreuilville,  Hornepayne, Michipicoten First Nation and Wawa in partnership with other community non profits.
Community Assistance Trust
provides one time emergency assistance to residents in the region from Elliot Lake to 
White River with rent, home heating and medical travel. In 2014, the value of this assistance was $10,000.
