Chapleau Man passes OPP cruiser

On January 29, 2016, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Highway 17, east of the town of Blind River. At 1:33 p.m., police observed a westbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.  The vehicle then proceeded to pass a subdued marked cruiser.  A traffic stop was initiated.  As a result of the stop, it was determined that the driver was under suspension. Bruce GOLDEN, 37 years of age, from Chapleau, Ontario was charged with:

  • Speeding, contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act; And
  • Drive While Under Suspension (X3), contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River On March 23, 2016.
