100 Days of School = 100 Food Items for Wawa Community Food Bank

DSC05626Yesterday, March 3rd, the JK/SK students walked accompanied by their Reading Buddies and teachers to the Wawa Community Food Bank. With them were several sleighs laden with food items for the Wawa Community Food Bank.

For many years, Jennifer Chandor-Hall has celebrated 100 days of School with her students. Their way of celebrating was to collect one food item for each day of school. The JK/SK’s were challenged to bring a can from home so that 100 items could be donated to the Wawa Community Food Bank. This year, the challenge was difficult. Assistance was asked of the entire school body to help.

Yesterday afternoon, the students loaded the food into boxes, then into sleighs for a walk down McKinley to the food bank at 96 Broadway Avenue (Old Medical Clinic). Wendy helped as each child grabbed a food item and brought it inside. Inside Cindy thanked each child as they came in and put the food on the shelf. The Reading Buddies were able to help by carrying in boxes.

This food will be appreciated by those who use the Wawa Community Food Bank services.
