(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On May 11, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of two males that were overdue from a hiking trip, north of the City of Elliot Lake.
The two men were last seen on foot at approximately 5:00 p.m. on the Cobra Lake Trail in the Mississagi Provincial Park. The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members attended the area and located the two hikers in good health a short time later.
The OPP reminds hikers to ensure you are prepared for emergencies by wearing proper clothing, carrying appropriate gear and food. Always tell someone the routes you intend to take and when you plan to return. If you don’t return when expected, this information saves police precious time in deciding where to commence and focus search efforts.
