A brand new beginning….for a building that has been a pillar in the history of our community for over a hundred years.
Once a major catalyst for our economy, the St. Mary’s Paper Mill has been transformed into a 40000+ square foot music/arts and convention center, to once again take a leading role in our business community.
With the new ownership, come new changes. Since January the additions include a heat recovery air conditioner system, a 24’ Remote Diagonal Projector Screen with two Projector Units, a 24 speaker sound system, wireless microphones, 2 16’ diameter Fans in the venue area, the addition of a Green Room Space to be used by entertainers and/or bridal parties, and of course a fully equipped 2000+ square foot state of the art kitchen.
This June, The Machine Shop, becomes the number one destination for wedding, music, conference and community events. The Machine Shop can cater events of up to 600 seated in the performance venue as well as up to 100 people in the newly constructed restaurant which is tentatively set for a mid-July opening.
In order to make this happen, The Machine Shop has enlisted the help of a few experts in their fields to guarantee that your experience is second to none:
Joe Iachetta – Operations Manager: Joe comes with 35+ years of experience in the Restaurant, Bar and Hospitality Industry. Over the years he has owned and managed both chain and independent restaurants and bars. Namely Lone Star Cafe, Swiss Chalet, Joey Calzone’s Italian Eatery & Bar, Joey’s Twisted Italian Grill & Pub and The Pub at the Water Tower Inn.
“…In all my years in the Hospitality industry, I can’t remember the last time I have been so excited about a project of this magnitude. Over the years I have opened restaurants from the ground up, but to be involved in building a kitchen from the ground up, helping in the design and development of a new restaurant, helping to set up a Calendar of Events for a Main Venue and additional Party Rooms. Having the opportunity to build a team of young, energetic and passionate people, around what I believe to be the most exciting thing that has happened to this city in a long time. Glen Dahl – Executive Chef: With Glen comes over 40+ years of kitchen, teaching and administrative experience. Over the years he has been Executive Chef for the Holiday Inn, Ramada Inn and New West Hotels. Most recently he was the Hospitality/Chef Training Coordinator for the Sault College Hospitality Program.

Stephen Alexander – Events & Promotions Manager: Owner/operator of LoplopsGallery~Lounge and with 13 years of experience, Alexander brings his flair and creativity to a new project. Known for bringing the newest stars on the music scene to his venue, with over 1200 shows at his venue as well as becoming a leader in creating larger events like the Festival of Beer, Oktoberfest, The Emergency and Second Stage, Alexander now has an opportunity to push the boundaries a little more.
