Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, at Greater Niagara Hospital on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at the age of 86 years.  Predeceased by her first husband, Peter Nelson, she is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard Laude and her children: Tamara, Jeanette (David,) Richard Jnr. (Carolyn,) Lorraine (Vito) and John-Paul (deceased.)  Adored Oma to Zakary (deceased,) Leif, Tess, Jessica, Jakob, Marah and Melissa.  Great grandmother to Atlas and Mitenah. Also survived by her sister Doris (Hans-Hermann) and her nephews, Thomas and Andreas of Fulda, Germany.

Margot was always interested, thoughtful, kind and meticulously just. She was an adventurous partner to her husband, Richard, building five houses together in Wawa and Michipicoten Mission.  Later, in retirement, on St. Joseph Island, Richard and Margot enjoyed community life, grandchildren and the Island’s natural beauty.
Margot read newspapers, books and Macleans magazine regularly.  Though she suffered personal tragedies in life, her spirit was not dampened, her deep faith carried her through. We, her family, are eternally grateful for her devotion and kindness.  She leaves an enormous gap.
Interment will be held later this summer at Woodland Cemetery in Wawa.
“For what you gave, during your life,
for this, every gratitude will be too small.
Thou has carest for your beloved ones,
from early to late, from day to day.
Thou hast been so modest,
duty and work, only, is what you have known.
With everything, we were content, ever.
Now, you mayest sleep in everlasting peace…

  1. A beautiful Lady who left me with wonderful memories during my childhood years living in the Mission. Her kindness and caring ways left a imprint in my memory bank! Remembering a time; I had told her it was my birthday ( think every kid loves their birthday) Mrs. Laude then proceeded to the back of the store and gave a little native doll as a birthday gift to me.
Mrs. Laude taught me that every child deserves to be acknowledged and I hope that I will leave memories for these little people, as Mrs. Laude has left for me. My love sent at this difficult time to all family! Hugs
