On July 2, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol duties in the City of Elliot Lake.
Shortly after 12:00 p.m., police observed a vehicle on Esten Drive North and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was found to be suspended.
Stephen PREVOST, 43 years of age from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with:  Driving while Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 2, 2016.
FEMALE CHARGED – NO SEATBELT
On July 2, 2016, shortly after 1:30 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) set up a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program at the junction of Highway 17 and Timber Road in the City of Elliot Lake.
Police stopped 150 vehicles and issued five Highway Traffic Act warns for various offences.
One driver who came through the R.I.D.E. wasn’t wearing her seat belt.  As a result Darlene ROY was issued a provincial offence notice for: Passenger – Fail to Properly Wear Seat Belt, contrary to section 106(3)(b) of the Highway Traffic Act.
DISQUALIFIED DRIVER CHARGED
On July 3, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol duties in the City of Elliot Lake.
Shortly after 1:00 p.m., police observed a vehicle on Highway 108 a traffic stop was initiated.  The investigation revealed the driver was suspended under the Criminal Code.
Yvon GAGNE, 49 years of age from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with:  Driving while Disqualified, contrary to section 259(4) of the Criminal Code.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 6, 2016.
