On Thursday July 28, 2016 at approximately 10:11 pm members of the Superior East Wawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a missing 37 years old hiker in the Lake Superior Provincial Park. Police were advised that the male hiker from Toronto had been dropped off at the Orphan Lake trail and was to hike the coastal trail to Gargantua. When the male failed to show up at the pick up point for the set time police were notified.
As a result the officers patrolled the area and at approximately 11:30 p.m. located the missing male approximately 10 km into the Gargantua road. The male was found to be in good health and later reunited with his family who was camping in the area.
