Things were very soggy yesterday, but the Wawa Municipal Airport is now a dragnet! Despite 5 hours of pouring rain volunteers, firefighters from the Wawa Volunteer Fire Department, Race Committee members and remarkable even few racers worked to get thing ready for racing today.
The parade was cancelled, but some people did make their way down to the Wawa Motor Inn and enjoy some of their specials and the music played by Kilotile aka Preston Plante.
The weather forecast is looking good, cool this morning with temps of 16-17C warming up to 24C by 3 p.m. Perhaps all the prayers and rosaries that were out hanging on the line worked!
Drivers will be registering from 8 a.m. till 3 p.m. at the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre, and after 3 at the airport. At 3 p.m. the spectator gates will be open for everyone to head out and enjoy an afternoon and evening of racing. Tonight at dusk the Chicago Rush Jet Car, Chevy Rebellion Wheelstander, and Diesel Dave will be making their ever so fast run down the track. A special feature is the fireworks show that begins just as the last car of the day makes its way down the track.
