The Food Bank has an abundance of thanks to offer to community members, businesses and organisations. Donations in many forms have been gratefully received including food and practical items, gift cards and even boards cut to measure for plots at the Community Garden.
The volunteers sincerely thank Calvary Church, Home Building Centre, Tim Horton’s, Norma Kauk, Lynn Lavigne and the Wawa Music Festival, Anne Owen and St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Joey Ralph, Susan and Terry Switzer, and Tamarack Camp on Kabenung Lake.
SUBWAY and Valu-Mart continue as valued sponsors, helping us in many ways.
A special thank you is for Cindy Szekely for her determined and solo effort at building, planting and harvesting garden plots for Food Bank use.
Many thanks as well to Wawa Salmon Derby officials and to participants who donated salmon and lake trout for our patrons. This fresh fish is a highly prized and rare addition to the diets of those we assist.
Wawa Family Health Team continues to provide valuable services at the Food Bank site. Our clients are very fortunate to receive regular diabetes testing and information from Renee Mellish and social work intervention and counselling from Laurie Cavan. This fall we look forward to the addition of a nursing clinic to further attend to the health needs of vulnerable people.
It is only with the support of the community that the Food Bank can continue to deliver healthy food choices to those in need.
