On August 20, 2016, shortly after 11:30 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a female that appeared to be intoxicated and stumbling on Hillside Drive South in the City of Elliot Lake.
Police located the female who had gotten into the complainants’ pick-up truck and passed out in the front passenger seat. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the scene and transported the female to the local hospital.
While in hospital care the female became assaultive with hospital staff and police. The female then bit an officer in the arm. Once released from the local hospital the female was arrested.
An 18-year-old female, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with:
- Assault a Peace Officer, contrary to section 270(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order (X2), contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on October 4, 2016.
