Fire Prevention Week is October 9 – 15, 2016. This year, it is about how old are your smoke alarms, check the manufacturer’s date, they usually last 10 years.
The Wawa Fire Department is encouraging everyone to check the date on their smoke alarms and replace expired alarms. Make sure you have a working smoke alarm on every level of the home.
“Many fatal fires occur at night when everyone is asleep, so early warning is crucial to survival,” says Fire Chief Kevin Sabourin. “The Ontario Fire Code requires working smoke alarms on every story of the home and outside all sleeping areas”. It is the Law!
