Winnipeg Woman Charged with using Cell Phone in Huron Shores


On October 9, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol duties on Highway 17, in the Municipality of Huron Shores west of Blind River.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m., police observed a female using her cell phone while driving on Highway 17.  A traffic stop was initiated.

As a result, Priscilla SANTOS, 31 years of age from Winnipeg, Manitoba, was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with: Drive-Hold-Hand-Held Communication Device, contrary to section 78.1(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
