On October 21, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties in the City of Elliot Lake.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m., police observed a southbound vehicle on Highway 108 which appeared to be unsafe for traveling on the highway. A traffic stop was initiated. A vehicle inspection was performed by the officer who determined the vehicle had many defects. The plates and the vehicle registration were removed from the vehicle and returned to the Ministry of Transportation. The unfit vehicle was towed.
As a result, Christina BRAY, 45 years of age, from Spanish, Ontario, was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with:
- Operate Unsafe Vehicle, contrary to section 84 of the Highway Traffic Act.
