It was amazing. The MMCC Banquet Hall was transformed into the best store ever – wine, delicious appetizers by Judy, beautiful clothes, and the purple catwalk. Oh, that catwalk! These ladies were rather quiet for their first few struts down the catwalk, but by the end – they owned it! An appreciative crowd watched as these women looked stunning in outfits brought by Pink Chandelier of SSM.
Brent Millard, called this the “ultimate girls night out” an evening full of “fashion, food, and fun.” Despite all the ‘fun’, this event had a serious side. The ‘Wawa Fashion Extravaganza” was a fundraiser to support the “Minds in Motion®” program for Wawa.
Minds in Motion® is a community-based social program that incorporates physical activity and mental stimulation for people with early to mid-stage signs of Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias and their care partners. Chris Rask of Wawa has received specialized training to run this program, and this event was organized to fuel the funding.
Brent gave a nod to Tina Halloran, Wawa Family Health Team member. Together the two had been brewing this event idea for a number of years. Unfortunately, Tina has moved, but the WFHT brought it to fruition!
The event was a wonderful evening and a success, Silvana Dereski explained, “It was a great success. We raised $1550 toward the program, so this gives us the green light to start ASAP! :)”.
