November 18, 19th and 20th is shaping up to be a big weekend here in Wawa. This year the tournament has expanded to include a men’s division! There are six teams in each division including teams from Sault Ste. Marie, Chapleau, Dubreuilville, White River and Wawa.
The Michpicoten Memorial Community Center will be a busy place with the By-Hand Festival running the same weekend. A perfect weekend; hockey, shopping and dancing! Once again our local businesses have pitched in to make the draws and prizes very attractive. Local support like this is the main reason this Annual Tournament is always a success. The tournament schedule is posted so you can keep up and come out to cheer on the local teams.
The Flash Back Dance starts at 9 p.m. at the Michipicoten Memorial Community Center on Saturday, November 19th. This is a Wawa Women’s Hockey Fundraiser and is open to the public. It’s classic 80’s music and it’s only $5; so dust off those shoulder pads and leggings, and moon walk your way down to the Community Centre for a totally stellar time.
These out of town teams really look forward to a weekend in Wawa for the fun and if you can believe it, the shopping! Yes, the By-hand Festival is a great place to get that “one of a kind” article for their Christmas list. With this years’ addition of an 80’s themed dance, it’s looking like a well-rounded weekend.
