OPP Confirm Fatality in Hwy 11 Collision – UPDATE

At 5:48 p.m. Highway 11 has been reopened.

Nov 25, 2016 @ 10:45 – Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on November 24, 2016 at approximately 9:00 a.m.

The collision occurred on Highway 11 south of Temagami and involved two tractor trailers. The identity of the deceased will not be confirmed until after post mortem has been completed.

The Temagami Fire Department, Marten River Fire Department, North Bay Fire & Emergency Services and North Bay & District Ambulance Service attended and the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with this ongoing investigation.

Highway 11 is currently open to an alternating lane.

 

At 6 a.m. OPP opened the highway to one lane, alternating.

 

EARLIER Nov 24, 2016 @ 15:31 – Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed that one person has died in this tragic collision on Highway 11. The highway remains closed at this time, and has been closed six hours ago. It is not known when the highway will reopen.

  1. Is it really necessary to show graphic photos of car accident scenes? I can’t imagine the pain, stress and worry that it causes families when they know their loved ones are on the road,in the area where an accident has occurred and the vehicles in a photo look like the ones shown on this website and others, perhaps even before the victims have been identified. It is insensitive, in poor taste and totally unnecessary.
