Just before 8:30 p.m. officers from the Superior East Detachment – Wawa were called to the scene of a single vehicle collision about 5 kilometres north of Wawa; Algoma EMS and the Wawa Fire Department also responded. At the curve just past Black Trout Lake, a northbound pickup crossed the centreline and left the roadway, rolling and coming to rest on the passenger side, facing the way it came. There was firewood in the bed of the truck which was strewn over the highway.
There appears to be significant damage to the vehicle, but it is not known if the driver was taken to the Lady Dunn Health Centre by ambulance with injuries.
Curiously, members of the Wawa Volunteer Fire Department and OPP officers were seen shining flashlights upon the shoulder and ditch east and west of the pickup.
There were some minor traffic delays until the pickup was removed by a tow truck about 9:45 p.m.
