On January 1, 2017, shortly after 4:30 p.m., a member of Mississauga First Nation Police Service (MFNPS) with the assistance of East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle in a ditch on Astles Road, in the Town of Blind River.
Once on scene the officer determined the vehicle had skidded off the road and came to rest against a hydro pole. As the officer was speaking to the driver, he determined the female driver had been consuming alcohol.
As a result, Meagan DEAVY, 25 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with:
- Care or Control While Impaired (Alcohol), contrary to section 253(1)(a); and
- Care of Control Over 80 milligrams, contrary to section 253(1)(b).
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on February 9, 2017.
