EARLIER (Jan 5, 2017 @ 13:38) – 12:46 PM EST Thursday 05 January 2017
Snow squall watch in effect for:

  • Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
  • Searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay

Local snow squalls may intensify over the region. Snowfall amounts near 10 cm are possible along with low visibilities in heavy and blowing snow. Radar currently shows a few strong lake effect snow bands just north of Sault Ste Marie that could move slowly southward this afternoon or early this evening.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather.
