It is with sadness that the family of Julia Natkanski announce her passing on Saturday, January 7, 2017, in her 87th year. Predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Tadeusz “Ted”. Beloved and cherished mother of Helena Oswald (Klaas). Adored Babcia (grandmother) to Madeleine. Dear sister of Theo Ciszewski (Jean), Jessica Wojtowicz (John), Josie Zeilinski (Jerry) and the late Peter. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Julie and her husband immigrated to Red Lake, Ontario in 1949, where they lived for twelve years. She was an exceptional cook and a professional seamstress. She lived for twenty-six years in Wawa where she operated the Eagle’s Nest for Algoma Steel executives and guests, catering weddings, sewing wedding and formal dresses, and was active in the Polish Club of Wawa (editor’s note: Polish Alliance of Wawa, Branch 40).
After Ted retired from mining in 1988, they moved to Sault Ste. Marie where she was very active at St. Andrew Bobola Polish Catholic Church and the Polish Hall. In Wawa and locally, she enjoyed making crafts and participating in craft shows.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
