Municipal Council will be holding their first meeting of the new year tonight at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers.
In new business, council has several matters which may interest MyWawa readers…
Council has a resolution to accept a resignation from a councillor, the next resolution is to declare the seat vacant. Council will have to decide on the process to replace the councillor.
Councillors will also appoint the Deputy Mayor for 2017. Councillor Yvan Besner was the Deputy Mayor for 2016, Councillor Bill Chiasson was Deputy Mayor in 2015.
Council also has a resolution to approve ‘Write Off of Taxes – Roll # 5776 000 01100100 0000’.
A very interesting resolution is #11.6 – Authorize Discharge of Firearms – Predator Control. This is sure to provide discussion for council.

The By-Laws to be read and passed:
By-Law No. 3000-16 – to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on the 10th day of January, 2017.
By-Law No. 3001-17 – to authorize The Corporation of the Municipality of Wawa to enter into an Agreement with Carol-Anne Robinson for the lease of the centre portion of 96 Broadway Avenue, Lower Floor, for a physiotherapy clinic for the years 2016 and 2017.
By-Law No. 3002-17 – to authorize The Corporation of the Municipality of Wawa to enter into an agreement with Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario, represented by the Minister of Transportation, regarding funding under the Dedicated Gas Tax Funds for Public Transportation Program.
By-Law No. 3003-17 – to exempt from taxation for municipal and school purposes certain lands owned by the Municipality of Wawa on which municipal capital facilities are located, namely a golf course, which is operated by Michipicoten Golf Club Limited.

Legal Issue (1 Item): Offer to Purchase Property – proposed or pending acquisition or disposition of land by the municipality or local board (Municipal Act, c.25, s.239 (2) (c))
