On January 8, 2017 at around 1:00 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members stopped a speeding pick-up truck on Hillside Drive South, in the City of Elliot Lake.
As a result of the investigation, police determined the male driver had been consuming alcohol. He was subsequently arrested, charged, driver’s license suspended, and the vehicle was towed.
Daniel James PIETTE, 21 years of age, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:
- Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Novice Driver B.A.C. above zero, contrary to section 44.1(3) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on February 7, 2017.
