Michipicoten First Nation is holding their Nomination meeting today at the Community Centre (MFN) from 9 a.m. for at least three hours. Elections will be held for six (6) Councillors and one (1) Chief. The Election will be held at the Community Centre on Saturday the 11th day of March 2017.
All nominees have been invited to submit their biography and/or political platform statement for inclusion into a special Election Season Newsletter that will be sent to the entire Michipicoten First Nation membership in early February. All nominees are asked to submit their biography/platform statement by 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 3rd, 2017. Submissions can be made to [email protected], faxed to 705-856-1642 or dropped off to the Band Hall in person.
Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Electors of the Michipicoten First Nation will be held at the Community Centre on Saturday, the 28th day of January 2017, beginning at 9:00 o’clock a.m. and lasting for at least three hours, for the purpose of nominating candidates for the position of Chief and Councillors, on the Band Council of the said Band, for the next ensuing term.
There are six (6) Councillor positions and one (1) position for Chief available. The Election will be held at the Community Centre on Saturday the 11th day of March 2017.
Please note that any voter may nominate candidates by using a mail-in nomination form.
You can either deliver or mail-in a written nomination and a completed, signed and witnessed voter declaration form to the Electoral Officer before the time set for the Nomination Meeting OR you may nominate candidates orally at the nomination meeting. If you wish to nominate using a mail-in nomination form, contact the Electoral Officer at the below telephone number.
Also note that any voter may vote by mail in ballot. If you will not be available to vote in person on the Polling Day, you may make arrangements with the Electoral Officer to receive a mail in ballot.
