Weather – Mainly cloudy today with flurries and higher winds late this morning with expected amounts of 2 to 4 cm. Expected high of -7C. Wind chill -27C this morning.

 

Roads – Highway 17 from Sault Ste. Marie to Montreal River is bare and dry with some wet sections. From Montreal River to the Paint Lake Road (halfway between Wawa and White River) is bare and dry. From the Paint Lake Road to just past White River is bare and wet.

Local – A reminder that the Indoor Walking Program is canceled for this week due to exams at Michipicoten High School. The program will resume Monday, February 6th, 2017.

If you are heading to the Soo this morning, be careful at the intersection of Great Northern Road and McNabb. There was a water main rupture early this morning, and PUC repair crews have been dispatched and have started repairs.

Provincial – A huge burbot was caught in Lake Simcoe on January 25th, 2017. Measurements on the lake were nearly .99 metres (39 inches) long, with a 48 cm (19 inch) girth. Sebastien Roy borrowed a scale from some other anglers on the ice and the scale read 18.3 pounds. On shore with a certified scale, the fish weighed in at 17.9 pounds. This may be the new provincial record.
