NHL Alumni Unveil Lineup for Wednesday’s Game – Chris Simon is Honorary Captain


On Wednesday, February 1st, 2017, the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre will host the NHL Alumni vs the Wawa All-Stars! The NHL Alumni has just announced that Wawaite Chris Simon will lead as honorary Captain. Chris played over 700 games in the NHL, and was a Stanley Cup winner with the Colorado Avalanche during the 1995-1996 season and celebrated by bringing the Stanley Cup back to town.

The NHL Alumni game supports the Special Olympics Ontario and their mission is “To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities.”

Rounding out the team is Tiger Williams, Rick Viave, fellow Wawaite Denny Lambert, Al Lafrate, Bryan Muir, Mike Pelyk, Dan Daoust, Mark Laforest, Joe Sgro, and Mike Krushelnyski. The ambassador for the game is Walter Gretzky, father and teacher of the Wayne Gretzky, and game official is Dave Hutchison.
