(HILTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On February 18, 2017, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) were on Motorized Snow Vehicle (MSV) patrol duties on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trails in the St Joseph Island area.
Shortly after 4:00 p.m., police observed a snowmobile on “D” trail with an expired plate. The driver of the MSV also could not produce any proof of insurance for his machine.
As a result, David BOSMAN, 64 years of age, from Hilton Beach, Ontario, was issued two provincial offence notices and charged with:
- Fail to Display Evidence of Permit, contrary to section 2(8) of the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act (MSVA); and
- Fail to Display Evidence of Insurance, contrary to section 12(2) of the MSVA.
The OPP is committed to saving lives on Ontario highways, trails and waterways through the reduction of preventable injury and death. Initiatives are developed and delivered through the Provincial Traffic Safety Program.
