Driving while suspended


On March 15, 2017, shortly before 3:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) where on regular patrol duties in the Town of Spanish.

Police observed a northbound vehicle on John Street and initiated a traffic stop. Investigation determined the driver was suspended, did not have a validation sticker on his vehicle plate and failed to produce an insurance card.

As a result, Jeffery GRATTON, 54 years of age, from Spanish, Ontario, was charged with:

Drive Motor Vehicle While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA);
Drive Motor Vehicle-No Currently Validated Permit, contrary to section 7(1)(a) of the HTA; and
Fail to Have Insurance Card, contrary to section 3(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on May 17, 2017.
