∼June 11, 1939 to March 18, 2017∼
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beverly Wells (Bertolo), at Little Current hospital, Manitoulin Island.
Mother of Valerie McIntyre (Peter Madahbee ) – Little Current, Wesley Bertolo (Sonja Eerola) – Kelowna, BC and the late Jason Bertolo. Proud grandmother of Beth, James and Liam McIntyre. Loving partner of Bruce Irving.
Beverly was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Wells of Sault Ste. Marie, and was married to the late Benjamin Bertolo. She was the second oldest of a large and lively Maritime family, including her siblings Joan Wells – (Smithers, BC), Charlie Wells – Comox, BC, Debbie Rouleau (Ron) – Sault Ste. Marie, Elizabeth Perry (Jim) – St. Louis, PEI, Heather Arseneault (Alan) – O’Leary, PEI and the late Diane Jordan (Tom), Alan Wells, and Valerie Wells.
Beverly worked hard all her life, from her early days at CN in Halifax, administrative work at Algoma Steel, travel agent of Air Canada and co-owner of her own travel business, then fully embracing the restaurant business with Ben Bertolo, helping establish Peachy’s Pizza Parlours in Sault Ste. Marie, North Bay, Sudbury and beyond. She lived in the Kitchener area for a good number of years, mastering new careers, and ultimately moving back to the “green, green grass of home” – PEI.
She was always a strong, supportive woman, who loved her family deeply, and had a great sense of humour. She will be missed greatly by her family, which includes many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, and many friends she made through the years.
Bev was an active supporter of the Meals on Wheels Program and if you would like to make a donation to your local Meals on Wheels Program in her name it would be appreciated by the family.
