OPP CHARGE MALE YOUTH FOR BEING INTOXICATED

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- On April 1, 2017, shortly after 12:30 a.m., members of the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a loud house party possibly involving underage drinking at a residence on Axmith Avenue in the City of Elliot Lake.

Police attended the residence, warned the dweller and advised him to shut down the party. As the party was dispersed, police patrolled the area and located an intoxicated male. He was transported to local hospital where he was assessed and released back into police custody.

As a result, a 15 year old male, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with: Person Under 19 years Consuming Alcohol, contrary to section 30(8) of the Liquor Licence Act.

The male was later turned over to his mother who attended Elliot Lake Detachment.

FEMALE CHARGED WITH DOMESTIC ASSAULT

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- On April 1, 2017, shortly after 6:0 p.m., members of the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Beaumier Crescent in the City of Elliot Lake.

Police learned that between March 30, 2017 and April 1, 2017, a female physically assaulted and threatened to harm her common-law husband.

As a result, a 42 year old female from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with:

Assault-Spousal, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC); and
Uttering Threats-Cause Death or Bodily Harm-Spousal, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC.
The accused is schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on May 2, 2017.

SUSPENDED DRIVER CHARGED AGAIN

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- On April 2, 2017, members of the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties in the City of Elliot Lake.

Shortly after 4:00 p.m., police observed a westbound vehicle on Hillside Side South. Police observed the male driver to be known to them as being a suspended driver. A traffic stop was initiated at Roman Avenue. Investigation determined the driver was indeed suspended province wide as of March 27, 2017. The driver was arrested. The vehicle was towed and impounded.

As a result, Dominique DAIBLE, 38 years of age from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with: Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on May 3, 2017.

MALE CHARGED WITH SPEEDING WHILE APPROACHING A R.I.D.E. CHECK

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On April 2, 2017, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) initiative at the intersection of Mississauga Avenue and Hillside Drive South in the City of Elliot Lake.

While conducting RIDE, an officer observed a vehicle go through the intersection. Once through the intersection it accelerated at a high rate of speed onto Mississauga Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated.

As a result of the investigation, Alex MACDONALD, 19 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with: Speeding, contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act.

INTOXICATED MALE SLEEPING ON SIDEWALK ARRESTED

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On April 2, 2017, shortly after 11:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to assist Elliot Lake Algoma District Paramedics who located an intoxicated male sleeping on the side walk on Ontario Avenue in the City of Elliot Lake.

Police attended the area. The male was assessed by the paramedics and turned over to police. The male was arrested and taken to Elliot Lake detachment.

As a result, Brian GILCHRIST, 59 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with: Being Intoxicated in a Public Place, contrary to section 31(4) of the Liquor Licence Act.

The male was lodged until sober the next morning.
