Wranglers and renegades plan to swarm on the streets of St. Ignace, Michigan April 21st to 23rd, when Jeep the Mac returns for its second consecutive year of trail rides, bridge crossing, and off-road camaraderie. Following last year’s gathering of more than 450 Jeeps, organizers are expecting to break this record in 2017.
“With the number of early registrants this year, we are hoping to host as many as 500 Jeeps” said Gina Stegehuis, Executive Director of the St. Ignace Visitors Bureau. “We have great partners on Drummond Island and they are offering some cool options for people who want to ride the trails – even if they’ve never done it before,”. The event is organized by the St. Ignace Events Committee and the Drummond Island Tourism Association.
The requirements to participate are simple – Jeeps must be licensed, street legal and tire size cannot exceed 40 inches.
The festivities begin Friday, April 21, with a driver check-in, mandatory meeting, official “Blessing of the Jeeps” and the organized Mackinac Bridge crossing. After the crossing, a meet-and-greet event will include live music, food, and beverages at Little Bear Arena.
On Saturday, attendees are invited to travel to Drummond Island for a day of “Jeeping”. Volunteers will be stationed at larger trail heads to provide information and advice. Trails offer variouse levels of skill and challenge. An evening awards ceremony will take place after the trail rides.
Back in St. Ignace, an Adventure Run scavenger hunt will be held Saturday and Sunday.
The entry fee of $35 per person includes:
Mackinac Bridge fare
Shuttle service through St. Ignace from Friday afternoon through Saturday
