Tractor trailer driver charged


(TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE, ON) – On April 28, 2017, members from the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Highway 17, in the Township of the North Shore.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., police observed an eastbound tractor trailer on Highway 17 with its four way flashers on. The officer observed no taillights on the tractor trailer. A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle was inspected.

As a result of the investigation, Ross ROYLE, 47 years of age, from Ameliasburg Township, Ontario, was issued two provincial offence notices and charged with:

Drive Without Proper Rear Light- Commercial Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 62(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA); and
Fail to Maintain Daily Log, contrary to section 190(3) of the HTA.


(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On April 30, 2017, members from the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program at the intersection of Woodward Avenue and Hudson Street in the Town of Blind River.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m., police observed a vehicle enter the R.I.D.E program and slowly drive through the intersection before officers could speak to the driver. Officers initiated a traffic stop on Lawton Street.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher LINE, 41 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Driving With More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code; and
Possession of Schedule II Substance-Cannabis Marihuana-Under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
