On May 24, 2017 at 9:25 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members were on regular patrol duties on Mississauga Avenue, in the City of Elliot Lake.
Police observed a vehicle operating with an expired validation permit. A traffic stop was initiated and investigation revealed the driver was suspended. This resulted in the vehicle being towed.
Jamie-Lynn JONCAS, 35 years of age, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:
Driving while suspended, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA)
Drive motor vehicle, no validation on plate, contrary to section 7(1)(c i) of the HTA
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 2, 2017.
