Motorcycle driver charged with numerous offences

On May 31, 2017, members from the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Government Road, in the Town of Thessalon.

Shortly before 9:00 p.m., police observed a motorcycle with no plates being operated by a male traveling northbound on Government Road. A traffic stop initiated. The investigation determined the driver was unlicensed and could not produce insurance or a permit for the vehicle.

As a result, Robert BOUCHARD, 32 years of age, from Thessalon, Ontario, was issued four provincial offence notices and charged with:

Drive Motor Vehicle-No Licence, contrary to section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA);
Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 7(5)(a) of the HTA;
Drive Motor Vehicle, No Plates, contrary to section 7(1)(b)(i) of the HTA; and
Fail to Surrender Insurance Card, contrary to section 3(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
