Grocery Thief Caught

On October 11, 2017, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft call at a local grocery store in the City of Elliot Lake.

The complainant reported viewing the store video surveillance after a suspicious male was shopping in the store. The security video showed the man putting food merchandise in his pocket and then proceeded to leave the store without paying for it.

After police investigation the male responsible was located and arrested.

Carl BURGER,  51 years of age, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

Theft Under $5000, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake, on December 5, 2017.
