EXCESSIVE SPEED- DRIVER’S VEHICLE IMPOUNDED

(MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION, ON)- On October 22, 2017, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a westbound vehicle travelling at high rates of speed and driving erratically on Highway 17 through the Towns of Massey and Spanish.

An East Algoma officer observed the westbound vehicle travelling at high rates of speed through the Town of Blind River continuing westbound towards Mississauga First where a traffic stop was initiated. The driver’s licence was seized and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

As a result of the investigation, Jason RICHARD, 45 years of age from Tofino, British Columbia was charged with: Drive Motor Vehicle-Perform Stunt-Speeding by 50 or more km/hr, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on December 20, 2017.

SUSPENDED DRIVER FOUND TO DRIVING

(BLIND RIVER, ON)- On October 22, 2017, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol duties on Causley Street in the Town of Blind River.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m., police observed a vehicle pull out of a business parking lot and left in a westbound direction on Causley Street where a traffic stop was initiated. The officer determined the female driver was suspended.

As a result of the investigation, Sherry RICHARD, 45 years of age from Thessalon First Nation, Ontario was charged with Drive While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on December 20, 2017.
