Ottawa – MP, Carol Hughes paid tribute to Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing’s small business community in parliament today, drawing MPs attention to award ceremonies in Hearst, Kapuskasing, and Elliot Lake.
“Small businesses are a vital part of our economy, but in northern communities they are even more important,” said Hughes who spoke about events in the Northern Ontario constituency she represents.
“This week the business community in Hearst will celebrate young entrepreneurs at the Gala Prix Panache, “said Hughes. “They will also mark the 65th anniversary of Ted Wilson’s Men’s Wear and the Wilson Family who run the business to this day.”
Hughes congratulated Chamber of Commerce award winners that were announced at recent ceremonies in Kapuskasing and Elliot Lake including Kapuskasing’s Simon and Louise Dubosq, who received the Lifetime Achievement award, and Elliot Lake’s Peter and Betty Seidel, who received the Red Briffett Award for Community Involvement.
“I congratulate the winners, nominees and all our small businesses who keep our communities vital and strong!”
