WAWA FEMALE CHARGED WITH FAIL TO COMPLY

(WAWA, ON) – On Sunday January 21, 2018 at approximately 8:00 am members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East (Wawa) Detachment responded to a Wawa address regarding a report of a dispute. At the scene investigation revealed that an altercation had taken place between a female and a male.

As a result a 29 year old Wawa, Ontario female was arrested and charged with the following offence:

  • Adult Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge contrary to section 145(5.1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was held into custody pending a bail hearing.

 

SUSPENDED DRIVER CHARGED

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On January 19, 2018, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members were on regular patrol duties on Hillside Drive South, in the City of Elliot Lake, Ontario.

Police conducted a traffic stop and investigation revealed the driver was suspended. This resulted in the male driver charged.

Phillip Charlie MILLAR, 36 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:

  • Driving while suspended, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on February 7, 2018.

 

LOCAL MAN CHARGED WITH SUSPEND DRIVE

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On January 19, 2018, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members were on regular patrol duties on Kilborn Way, in the City of Elliot Lake, Ontario.

Police conducted a traffic stop and investigation revealed the driver was suspended. This resulted in the male driver charged.

Spencer LAMOTHE, 26 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:

  • Driving while suspended, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on March 7, 2018.

 

WAWA MALE CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

(WAWA, ON) – On Friday January 19, 2018 at approximately 10:15 am members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East (Wawa) Detachment responded to a Wawa address regarding a report of a dispute. At the scene investigation revealed that an altercation had taken place between a male and a female.

As a result a 21 year old Wawa, Ontario male was arrested and charged with the following offences:

2 counts of Adult Assault – Spousal contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada,
Adult Breach of Recognizance contrary to section 811 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was held into custody pending a bail hearing.

 

BREAK AND ENTER IN PROGRESS OPP CHARGE MALE AND FEMALE

(TARBUTT-TARBUTT ADDITIONAL TOWNSHIP, ON)-  On January 18, 2018, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Sault Ste Marie OPP Canine Unit responded to a Break and Enter in progress at a construction business near the junction of Highway 548 and Highway 17 in Tarbutt-Tarbutt Additional Township.

Shortly after 6:00 a.m., a male and female attended the construction business on Highway 17. The male wearing a disguise entered through a window and stole electronic equipment and electronic devices that he placed in a garbage bin and were carried outside the building. The female retrieved the items and placed them in the car. An audible alarm was tripped when a door was opened and the owner of the property attended his business. The female fled the property in the car and the male fled on foot. The male then attended a residence on MacLennan Road and managed to get a ride to a residence in Laird Township but before he left that residence he stole an electronic device.

With the assistance from Sault Ste Marie OPP the male and female were located shortly after 8:00 a.m. at a residence on Government in Laird Township.
