(ESPANOLA, ON) – On Saturday February 10, 2018 at approximately 7:04 p.m., officers from the Manitoulin-Espanola Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a traffic complaint on Highway 17 in Webbwood, Ontario.
Police located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. After conducting the stop, officers determined that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages.
As a result of the investigation, Chad BOWERMAN, age 39, of Sudbury, Ontario, has been charged with:
Failing or Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample contrary to section 254 of the Criminal Code (CC);
Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA);
Driving a Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Container of Liquor contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act (LLA);
Permit use of Plate not in Accordance with Act contrary to section 12 (1)(f) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA); and with
No Muffler- Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 75(1) of the HTA.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Provincial Court of Justice in Espanola, Ontario, on April 5, 2018.
