Male Arrested For Shoplifting


(BLIND RIVER, ON)- On February 22, 2018, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment responded to a shoplifting incident that occurred at a local hardware store in the Town of Blind River.

Police reviewed video surveillance from February 12, 2018, where a male entered the hardware store and removed a flashlight from a box. He then hid the flashlight on his person and walked out of the store without paying for it.

As a result of the investigation, Shane GIONETTE, 41 years of age from Blind River, Ontario was charged with: Theft Under $5000-Shoplifting, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on April 19, 2018.
