Canada Day Long Weekend Statistics via OPP


(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – From Friday, June 29 to Monday, July 2, 2018 members of the Manitoulin-Espanola Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) worked extremely hard at keeping the roadways safe through a provincial wide Traffic Safety Initiative.

Over the course of this initiative, OPP officers focused their attention on aggressive driving, speeding, impaired driving, and seatbelt compliance. The results were as follows:

68 Speeding Charges
Three Seatbelt Charges
Nine Moving Violation Charges
23 Other Highway Traffic Act Charges
Two Liquor Licence Act Charges
One Over 80 Driving Charge
Two Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act Charges
