Youth Chief and Deputy Youth Chief Joint Statement on World Suicide Prevention Day

CHRISTIAN ISLAND, ONTARIO (SEPTEMBER 10TH, 2018)Youth Chief Lance Copegog and Deputy Youth Chief Avery Sandy have issued the following joint statement on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day:

“Today marks World Suicide Prevention Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness to prevent losses of life from suicide. This year’s theme is Working Together to Prevent Suicide.”

“In order to fulfill this year’s theme, we must work together in a whole of community and whole of government approach. We remain committed to addressing the root of the mental health and suicide crisis in First Nations communities.”

“The Beausoleil First Nation Youth Council looks forward to delivering programs on life promotion and investing in youth mental health for Beausoleil First Nation.”

The Beausoleil First Nation Youth Council represents the youth of Beausoleil First Nation, advocates on their behalf, and creates a vision for the future.
