Driving with a weapon you’re not supposed to have takes the cake


(ESPANOLA, ON) – On Sunday, October 21, 2018 a member from the Manitoulin-Espanola Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting traffic patrols on Highway 6 in the Town of Espanola, Ontario.

At approximately 10:52 p.m., the officer observed a traffic violation and conducted a traffic stop. As a result of the investigation, James MOORE, age 24 of the Township of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition, contrary to a Prohibition Order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal code (CC).;
  • Use Plate not Authorized for Vehicle, contrary to section 12(1)(d) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA);
  • Drive Motor Vehicle, no currently validated permit, contrary to section 7(1)(a) of the HTA; and with
  • Fail to Surrender Permit for Trailer, contrary to section 7(5)(b) of the HTA.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, Ontario on December 3, 2018.
