Male Charged with Impaired Driving by Drugs


On Saturday, November 3, 2018, officers from the Manitoulin-Espanola detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 17 in Nairn-Hyman Township, Ontario.

At approximately 4:10 a.m., officers observed a passenger vehicle being operated in an erratic manner. Police conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the male driver.

As a result of an investigation, Randeep SANDHU, age 25, from Brampton, Ontario, has been charged with:

Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Drug, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Provincial Court of Justice in Espanola, Ontario on January 21, 2019.

Through the OPP Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) program, the OPP’s goal is to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by drivers who are impaired by drugs.
