On November 21, 2018, at approximately 11:42 a.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit arrested a male in relation to a robbery at a residence on Hergott Avenue in the City of Elliot Lake, Ontario.
On August 1, 2018, police responded to a home invasion call on Hergott Avenue. The home owner reported somebody breaking into his house, spraying him with bear mace, and stealing various items. After an extensive investigation, police arrested the male.
Alex ETHIER, 25 years of age, of Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:
Robbery with Weapon, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
Administer Noxious Thing with Intent to Annoy, contrary to section 245(b) of the CC,
Possession of Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the CC,
Disguise with Intent, contrary to section 351(2) of the CC,
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC,
Break, Enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the CC.
The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on November 22, 2018.
