On February 2, 2019, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft call at a grocery store on Hillside Drive North in the City of Elliot Lake, Ontario.
The complainant was an employee at the grocery store and was doing work at the front foyer area. The man took his gloves off and put them on the window ledge while he put salt down at the entrance. When he went back inside, his gloves were gone. He spoke to the elderly couple who were in that area when he put his gloves down. The elderly female denied seeing the gloves and departed the store.
The employee viewed the video surveillance and that elderly female was observed taking the gloves off the window ledge and putting them in her grocery bag.
After investigation, police charged the female responsible.
Monica Ann LANDRY, 61 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:
- Theft Under $5000, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC).
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake, Ontario on April 2, 2019.
