(MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION, ON)- On Saturday February 9, 2019, shortly after 8:30 p.m., a member from Mississauga First Nation Police Service with the assistance from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Sault Ste Marie OPP Canine Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) Unit responded to an armed robbery at a cigarette store on Highway 17 on the Territory of Mississauga First Nation.
On Tuesday February 19, 2019, shortly after 12:30 p.m., members from the East Algoma OPP arrested a male involved with the armed robbery.
As a result of the investigation, Michael HAGGER, 35 years of age from Mississauga Frist Nation, Ontario was charged with:
- Robbery Using Firearm (restricted or prohibited), contrary to section 334(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC);
- Robbery Using Firearm (restricted or prohibited), contrary to section 344(1)(a) of the CC;
- Disguise with Intent, contrary to section 351(2) of the CC; and with
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC.
The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail in Blind River on February 20, 2019.
