On March 21, 2019, at approximately 7:00 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called in relation to a disturbance at an apartment on Beckett Boulevard in Elliot Lake, Ontario.
Assisting with the investigation are the OPP’s Canine Unit, Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team Members (ERT), East Algoma Crime Unit, Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), Crisis Negotiators and the Critical Incident Command (CIC).
The complainant reported having alcoholic beverages at another apartment with a male who was known to him. The two got into an argument and the male threatened the complainant with a gun.
Daniel WURSLUK, 52 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:
Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or Ammunition, contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code (CC),
Pointing a Firearm, contrary to section 87 of the CC,
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC,
Assault with a Weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River, Ontario on March 22, 2019.
