Numerous Charges Following Traffic Stop


(NORTH SHORE TOWNSHIP, ON) – On April 5, 2019, a member with the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police was conducting traffic enforcement duties on Highway 17 in North Shore Township. At approximately 9:28a.m., the member had occasion to query the licence plate of a motor vehicle which revealed the owner to be suspended from driving. A traffic stop was then conducted.

As a result of the Investigation Robert RYAN, 36 years of age from London, Ontario was charged with:

  • Driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA),
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit, contrary to section 7(1)(a) of the HTA,
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, and
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available, contrary to section 12(1) of the Cannabis Control Act of Ontario.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River, Ontario on June 19, 2019.
